About Joe Ruggiero

Ruggiero’s forte is creating sophisticated environments that are inspirational as well as attainable. During his forty year career, Ruggiero has become a leader in identifying design trends and translating them into fresh ideas for consumers worldwide. Ruggiero is one of America’s most trusted authorities on helping consumers implement new design trends from both an aesthetic and practical point-of-view.

Ruggiero is a pioneer in bringing home design to network television. 84 million households tune in daily to the multiple home design series and specials that Ruggiero started in 1994 on The Home & Garden Television Network (HGTV). He served as Chief Design Consultant to the PBS award-winning series, “This Old House” for nine years. He also spent two years as Design Correspondent on ABC-TV’s “Good Morning, America.” Ruggiero has hosted television vehicles such as “The Living Magazine” sponsored by Ethan Allen for the Lifetime Cable Network; and ABC-TV’s “Home Show”. He was also the Chief Designer for the popular PBS television series “This Old House.

In 2000, Ruggiero launched his Home Collection. His current collection includes: Upholstery for Miles Talbott, Wood furniture for Gat Creek; Decorative Throws for Textillery,  Outdoor Furniture for Terra Furniture, fabrics for Sunbrella^® and all weather wicker for Viro. In 2009 Ruggiero added Bedding and Drapery for Casa Fiora as well as decorative trims for Phoenix Trims. Ruggiero also introduced an exclusive bedding collection for Wild Cat Territory only @Perigold.

 The Joe Ruggiero Collection is now celebrating nineteen years of successful design; one of the longest branded home collections in the furniture industry.

Ruggiero is also known for his nationwide “IdeaHouses.” The “IdeaHouses were complete residential settings within design centers, each with a distinctive lifestyle theme that showcases products from dozens of companies. Ruggiero’s “IdeaHouses” have received nationwide press coverage and have attracted hundreds of thousands of consumers.

Ruggiero’s home furnishings designs have received accolades from the design profession, including the American Society of Furniture Designers Pinnacle Award, The American Furniture Award for outstanding achievement in furniture design, the ADEX Platinum Award for textile design, and the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA) “Star of the Year” award and the “Trailblazer Award 2011” (IFDA) Ruggiero has also won numerous awards for his High Point Showroom at Miles Talbott.
