Garden Design

As Spring approaches we begin to look to the garden. Our garden is basically a ‘green garden” so it is not that hard to plant new accent colors. I happen to like roses and we have set an area for a rose garden. I use my Sunbrella collection throughout the garden My wide stripe “Upland” is now 15 years old and loves the intense California sun.

Natural Walls For The Garden

IMG_4081

My son-in-law, Philippe LeManach of Accents of France has created beautiful walls of ficus bushes that have been carefully trained to create walls for rooms in the garden. He has also designed and manufactured these pieces of architecture, featuring urns and pedestals. Looking from space to space gives the feeling you are in a very special French garden. Topiaries I Love

I have been collecting Topiary frames for many years. The shapes and sizes add architecture to our garden. So easy to train ivy onto these frames and watch them take shape. I also like to keep a few without plant material; the charming shapes are just as effective in various parts of the garden, much like garden sculpture.

On this shape, I trained varigated ivy from my daughter Meg's wedding. A very nice "keepsake."
